Wakefield Bid Awards

Vickers Carnley were privileged to be part of The Wakefield Bid Awards on 27th October 2022. With a front row seat to the action, it made us proud of all the nominee’s and winners of the awards, celebrating the success of Wakefield. Lee Carnley presented the award for ‘The best medium retail business’ to Bayfield’s Opticians. Other award winners on the night were Jasmine Pottery Studio’s, Everything Taken Care Of, Frank Bird, Marmalade on the Square, Create Cafe, Lobby 1867, Second Chance, Waterstone’s, Wakefield Comics and Helping Hands.

Wakefield Business Awards is not only a great occasion to bring businesses together, but to celebrate all things good about Wakefield. We have placed hundreds of businesses into the City Centre and surrounding areas over the years and have seen how much the city has changed. With an abundance of new cafés and restaurants, the hospitality industry is expanding and now the city offers a wide range of exciting venues. Whether it’s grabbing a cup of warming hot chocolate from your favourite café or ordering an espresso martini on that special night out with friends-Wakefield now has you covered.

The retail scene continues to grow and in some areas is transforming the City Centre, independent retailers are now appearing on almost every street. It’s great to see these small businesses alongside large chains, creating a busy high street every day of the week. It is now time to support local businesses after the difficult few years we have all faced. The covid pandemic left many retailers facing a huge crisis but now landlords, tenants, Wakefield BID and WMDC are now pulling together to breathe new life into the city’s streets.
