Westgate gains Feathers and Tails

38 Westgate is a grade II listed building originally built in the late 18^th century, then converted to a retail space at the end of the 19^th century. This red brick built, 3 storey property is situated at the junction of Westgate and Marygate, in a highly prominent position with the shop front facing directly onto Westgate.

Feathers and Tails Pet Shop will soon be occupying this unit, selling a variety of pet accessories such as dog and cat food, collars, leads, coats, toys and ultimately livestock. For the nature lovers, wild bird feed will also be available to attract wildlife into your gardens.

A range of exotic rescue birds and reptiles will be ready for adoption with great lengths being taken to ensure the safety and welfare of the animal. This will include enclosure checks and discussing the care in substantial detail so members of the public are fully aware of the adoption process.

Cassy and Lily are delighted to start their business venture in Wakefield City Centre and aim to be opening their doors mid-year.

Lily quotes “Both Cassy and I have had a passion for reptiles and birds since we were young. We keep a variety at home including snakes, tarantulas and birds! We have both worked with animals for a combined 15+ years in both the veterinary industry and pet trade, and pride ourselves on staying up to date on scientific research, the community and reports produced. We want to set a new standard for selling reptiles and birds to make sure that the correct information, advice and husbandry is given to ensure the best quality of life for any animal, no matter it’s size or species. We are community oriented and have plans to support other local businesses in our shop, we are for the animals first and foremost, they will always be our first priority but we strive to create a friendly atmosphere, we will offer advice without judgement.”
